The Whale Painting
Created: 2011
Medium: Pigments, inks and oil on board
The day the Pilot Whales beached on Kommetjie beach. A great tragedy played out that day that ended in such chaos. Everyone tried to help, but sadly most of the pod were euthanised.
The policemen on order to carry out the task appear as the angles of death in deep mourning on either side, as young girls are singing to the dying whales.
The universe in the distance and the new eggs of life at the base of this painting represents the circle of life that goes on.
